The Director Software Production Operations will operate in a key role managing Covario’s platforms and ensuring both the products and services run smoothly. You will be deeply involved with the products and infrastructure teams as core participants in the engineering efforts from a production operations standpoint. As the Director of Production Operations, you will have a broad technical knowledge of the core infrastructure, operations, and product roadmaps to be able to interact at a technical level with all cross-functional teams involved, reporting directly to the VP of Engineering.


  • Provide technical and process leadership across the product support team
  • Manage standard administrative practices in the following; design, management, and adherence of security software policies, automation of processes and procedures, designing back-up processes, and diverse storage device configurations
  • Guiding the management of network infrastructures, including familiarity with firewall and load balancer administration
  • Provide troubleshooting support for SQL servers like MySQL, working with NoSQL databases and document stores through Couchbase
  • Participate in the overall management of third party hosting vendors, such as Amazon Web Services, and RackSpace Cloud
  • Manage product application hosting, monitoring, maintenance, ticketing, and related vendors, targeting 24-7 product uptime and cost-effective operations
  • Manage multiple projects, prioritize work and balance strategic and tactical issues, using agile/scrum and more traditional product planning approaches
  • Build and maintain a high performance culture through effective performance leadership, communication and coaching of staff
  • Work in collaboration with Product Development, Product Management, Professional Services, and Account Management to identify priorities, resource allocation and project deadlines

Required Skills & Experience

  • 4-year degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering or applicable discipline
  • 3-5 years of operations team leadership experience in the areas of enterprise Global 2000/enterprise scale software, solutions, web development, and online marketing
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a production setting and environment familiar in Red Hat and/or Ubuntu Linux
  • Proven experience with scripting languages  J2EE, Apache, Tomcat, Adobe Flex, MySQL, Bourne, Python, and a variety of ETL and BI tools, and general Open Source development background highly preferred
  • Proven experience in rapid-iteration environments, with product releases every 2-4 weeks, highly preferred
  • Familiarity with software development concepts, including the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), and willingness to aid in debugging software issues, and web server administration practices
  • Experience working with Cloud-based server architectures, including being comfortable working in a command-line only environment
  • Must work well under pressure, be sensitive to deadlines, be able to interact in a team environment, be able to adapt quickly to change, and possess good customer service skills
